WebCrossing Server Upgrade – Larger Memory Allocation

This new build allows larger memory allocations to the SOH (Small Object Heap). A larger SOH is particularly useful for sites with a large database and a high level of activity. It helps cache items in server RAM, and generally speeds things along.

Over the years, more and more RAM resources have become available to servers, and we will continue to work on updating WebCrossing to take advantage of these resources.

WebCrossing memory allocations are handled in the Control Panel and you need true “sysop” access in order to make changes. For hosted sites we are always monitoring sites to ensure sufficient RAM is allocated, and updating allocations wherever we find an increase would be useful.

The latest release version is now WebCrossing 6.4-1327 2017-03-13.

We will be upgrading all hosted customers, and coordinate upgrade timing as needed.

All self-hosted customers with valid support and maintenance contracts can download this new version at no cost.

If you are running a self-hosted site we strongly recommend upgrading your WebCrossing server to this new build. If you are a self-hosted customer and have a valid support and maintenance contract, please contact support for access to the new server. A detailed FAQ on this new setting is available here. If your support and maintenance contract has expired, please contact us to renew so we can provide you with this important update.
