WebCrossing Server – Upgraded email list mirroring with secure SSL/TLS POP3 and more settings

A long standing unique feature of the WebCrossing server is the ability to set any folder to mirror external email lists. Mail is retrieved using POP3, and mailing list threads are created as discussions in the WebCrossing folder.

Members can receive notifications, or messages via the web, and participate just like in WebCrossing forums. Very convenient!

This upgrade enhances this feature by adding secure SSL/TLS POP3 to mailbox mirroring. Just check the SSL box in the folder email list settings and instead of unencrypted port 110 mail fetching, encrypted port 995 mail fetching will be used instead.

The Email List settings for “Mirror posts from an external mail list” have also been enhanced. This means that mailbox mirroring now works with servers like Gmail, where your email address is your username, and the server name is entered separately. This should make it easy to mirror any mailbox on all standard POP3 servers and bring that email into WebCrossing as discussions in a folder. If you need more details, feel free to contact us.
