WebCrossing server upgrade – Logging and Scripting Enhancements

Automated eMail Log Rollover
This updated version of the WebCrossing server adds an automatic rollover feature for the email log (logEmail) to prevent the log from growing too large, which could affect server performance. You never have to manually backup and renew the email log again! The new default setting is to rollover when the log reaches 1 GB, and there are also options to rollover daily, weekly and monthly. All old email logs are maintained.

Scripting enhancement to cgi object
The cgi (Common Gateway Interface) object in WebCrossing Server-side Javascript (SSJS) contains valuable information for real time visitors, including referer, user-agent, query string and more. It’s an important object used frequently in customized site development. The cgi object, however, is only available for actual real-time accesses, and is not available for queued functions (functions which are designated to run in the background). Previously referencing the cgi object in a queued function caused a script aborting error. In this new version, you can now check for the existence of the cgi object, even in a queued script, and avoid this error. Need more info on this? Please contact technical support.

The latest release version is now WebCrossing 6.4-1312 2016-06-18.

We will be upgrading all hosted customers, and coordinate upgrade timing as needed.

All self-hosted customers with valid support and maintenance contracts can download this new version at no cost.
