Starting March 15, 2026, the maximum validity period for SSL/TLS certificates was reduced to 200 days, requiring more frequent renewals. This change is part of a broader initiative to enhance web security. The plan includes phasing in further decreased validity to 100 days in 2027 and 47 days by 2029. The consortium responsible for the changes includes Let’s Encrypt, Apple, Amazon, SSL.com, Google, GoDaddy, Visa, Thunderbird, Cisco, DigiCert, and other major organizations.
To manage these changes, we are in the process of upgrading the WebCrossing system. This new build is part of the process. It helps us automate the re-issuing and installation process using the new consortium APIs and SSL rules.
