Doug Lerner – Founder and CEO

Doug earned his M.S. in Physics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and did further post-graduate work at the University of California Davis and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. He has over 20 years of experience in software development for online education, social networks, online communities,  scientific simulation as well as broad experience in higher education, large program and project management, student advisement, course development and technical training. Doug lives in Tokyo, Japan.

Bruce Skinner – Director of QA & Technical Support

Bruce graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Molecular & Cell Biology, followed by over 10 highly successful years in sales to the biotech industry. During his sales career he sat on a number of committees for integrating computer technology into the sales force, including software testing, installations, and rep level support. Starting as a user of Webcrossing software in 1997 for his ezine, he joined Web Crossing in ’99 and has continued to manage Support and QA for the software. As well as a web developer and publisher, Bruce also operates his own business assisting local companies and individuals with not only their online presence, but their overall IT needs. For fun, he can usually be found with his DSLR camera securely attached to his face photographing the great outdoors, events, sports, food and people.

Sue Boettcher – Friend of the Company

Sue advises the CEO and staff on a variety of things. Whether or not they take her advice is an entirely different matter. She also attempts to remember things that everybody else – even Bruce – has forgotten. Her Memory Alpha specialty is the Web Crossing scripting templates, many of which she wrote.

Niaja Farve – Technical Advisor

Niaja obtained her Masters in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2012 and has since been working on a PhD as a member of the MIT Media Lab. As an electrical engineer / programming enthusiast, she spends most of her time learning new programing languages and trying to engage youth in STEM fields. She has experience managing small companies online presence, as well as developing functional code for major laboratories. When she has free time she is usually traveling, visiting friends, and exploring new foods and cultures.

Nick Duggan – Technical Advisor

Nick obtained his B.A. from St. John’s College, Santa Fe in 2011, and is currently attaining a Masters in political philosophy at UT Austin. In his free time, he likes to spend time studying and writing philosophy, working through a good book of literature, or spending time with friends. With previous experience in computer programming and API technical writing, Nick works in scripting, tutorial creation, and general client assistance.

Lisa Schmucki – Education Market Advisor

Lisa Schmucki is the founder and CEO of edWeb.net, a professional social and learning network for the education community that makes it easy to connect with peers, share information and best practices, spread innovative ideas, and provide professional development. Lisa is an education industry executive with 30 years experience in product development, database development, and marketing. She is a graduate of Princeton University and has a Masters Degree from the Stern School of Business at NYU.  She can be reached at lisa@edweb.net.

Delle Maxwell – Senior Design Advisor

Delle Maxwell has many years’ experience in computer animation, computer graphic design, UI design, technical writing and web and wiki design. She is interested in the clear, effective display and communication of information in graphic and written form. As a co-inventor, she holds two patents related to user interface design. She has worked primarily as a freelancer with small startups as well as with larger established companies.

She works in UI and icon design, and has done technical writing and illustration. Tools she is familiar with are FrameMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Dreamweaver, InDesign, CSS, html. She is comfortable working in developers’ environments in Windows and Linux.

Kibo Hayashi – Computer Graphics Producer

Kibo Hayashi has worked for years in the production of advanced computer graphics animation. He works on computer graphics projects for Elliptics with U.S., Japanese and European customers, and is highly familiar with Softimage.

Justin Goldberg – WordPress Projects Manager

Justin Goldberg works to make web development a rapid, cost-effective process that puts clients in the driver’s seat to confidently manage their online presence. He shepherds time- and budget-strapped small businesses and nonprofit organizations through an accelerated, results-oriented process using the popular open source content management system WordPress, including everything from logo and branding guidance to competitive positioning, content development, and the follow-through search engine optimization, online advertising, and hands-on training needed to help them succeed.

Judith Slatin – Financial Advisor

Judith has more than 27 years of accounting and tax experience. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Long Island University, C.W. Post Center with a B.S. in Accounting.  She quickly passed the CPA exam and became a certified public accountant in the state of New York beginning her career by working for one of the larger public accounting firms on Long Island. From there she went on to have her own small CPA firm. After an opportunity presented itself, she began working in Midtown Manhattan as the assistant to the controller of the U.S. subsidiary of a major Japanese trading company. She analyzed and adjusted financial reports for its subsidiaries and affiliates, training staff on the use of QuickBooks for its financial reports. She also prepared its corporate and multi-state income tax returns as well as the personal returns for its Japanese expatriates. In addition, she was responsible for the payroll reports for its more than 400 employees in over 15 office locations and prepared the U.S. census reports for the Federal Reserve and Department of Commerce. Judith currently lives and works in Las Vegas, Nevada as a tax accountant. She has the ability to find hidden tax deductions and credits and has saved many businesses countless dollars in lost revenue.
